WHAT WE FUND:
NEW PATROL K-9s — $10,000–$15,000
A police K-9 can detect odors more than 100,000 times stronger than a human nose. A properly trained patrol dog saves an estimated 600 to 1,000 manpower hours each year, while reducing risk to officers by alerting to danger long before a human can see or sense it. Time and again, the presence of a police K-9 has proven to make officers and communities safer.
The investment is significant. The purchase price of a new patrol K-9 starts at $10,000, with fully trained dogs often exceeding $15,000. Costs increase substantially when you factor in specialized vehicles, heat alarm systems, protective vests, training equipment, certifications, and ongoing advanced instruction required before a K-9 is ready for deployment.
Because of these expenses, many agencies are unable to expand or even sustain their K-9 programs.

The K-9 Cool Guard System by American Aluminum and the K9 HOT-N-POP PRO by our sponsor, Ace K-9, are two critical life-saving safeguards designed to protect police dogs while they are secured inside patrol vehicles. This advanced temperature monitoring system continuously tracks the interior climate of the vehicle and automatically activates emergency responses if temperatures rise to unsafe levels.
When triggered, the system can lower windows, activate cooling, sound audible alarms, and flash exterior warning lights to alert nearby officers and the public. Handlers also receive immediate notifications, allowing for rapid intervention before a dangerous situation becomes life-threatening.
